Support 22 Children With Type 1 Diabetes Through Project MadhuKishor

Across Ahmedabad and Mehsana districts of Gujarat, 22 children are currently enrolled in Project MadhuKishor, an initiative by Shree Foundation that supports children living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes is a lifelong condition in which the body can no longer produce insulin. Children diagnosed with the condition require regular insulin administration and frequent blood glucose monitoring to manage their health. This becomes a daily responsibility for both the child and their caregivers, requiring consistency, awareness, and access to essential medical supplies.

For many families, especially those living in rural communities, managing the condition extends far beyond hospital visits. It involves maintaining a regular supply of insulin, monitoring blood sugar levels multiple times a day, and ensuring that treatment continues without interruption.

Over the last six months, Project MadhuKishor has been working with 22 children and their families to help meet these ongoing needs. This campaign aims to continue that support for the next six months.

Why Project MadhuKishor Was Started

While Gujarat's government healthcare programs provide valuable assistance through free treatment kits that include insulin and glucometers, families often continue to face challenges in managing the condition on a daily basis.

One challenge identified by Shree Foundation is that the needles included in government kits are often thicker, which can cause additional discomfort for children who require multiple injections every day. Alongside this, regular access to testing supplies and continued guidance for families remains important for long-term diabetes management.

Recognizing these gaps, Shree Foundation launched Project MadhuKishor to help children receive the additional supplies, guidance, and follow-up support needed to manage the condition more comfortably and consistently.

Our Goal: Supporting The Next 6 Months Of Care

The objective of this campaign is to raise ₹3,96,000 to provide six months of essential diabetes-management supplies for the 22 children currently enrolled in Project MadhuKishor.

The funds raised through this campaign will primarily be used towards insulin, test strips, and syringes required for daily diabetes management.

How Children Are Enrolled In The Program

Project MadhuKishor works closely with hospitals and medical professionals to identify children living with Type 1 Diabetes who require additional support.

Children are referred through healthcare institutions, their diagnosis is verified by medical professionals, and families are consulted before enrollment into the program. Once enrolled, caregivers receive guidance on diabetes management and are connected with the Foundation's support network.

The program currently includes:

• Regular interaction with beneficiary families

• Guidance on monitoring and daily management

• Counselling and health education for caregivers

• Ongoing follow-up support

The goal is to help families feel informed and equipped while ensuring children can continue managing their condition consistently.
