Help 20-Year-Old Priest Karthik Walk Again After a Tragic Accident

My name is Varanasi Karthik, and I am a 20-year-old priest from Narsaipally, Nagarkurnool District, Telangana.

About a year ago, I had just completed my training to become a priest and was looking forward to beginning my journey of serving the community. Around the same time, I was travelling with fellow priest students to participate in a religious ceremony when the private bus we were travelling in met with a tragic accident. What started as a routine journey changed my life completely.

The accident left me with multiple serious injuries, including major damage to my hip and leg, several fractures on the right side of my body, and internal injuries that required extensive medical treatment. Over the past year, I have undergone three surgeries and spent months recovering from the physical and emotional impact of the accident.

For the past eight months, I have been facing this difficult journey without the support of my parents and have been staying at RK's Mother Teresa Foundation in Hyderabad, where I continue to receive care and support during my recovery.

While the previous surgeries helped stabilise my condition, my recovery is still incomplete.

Doctors have now advised a Total Hip Replacement surgery on my right hip, which is crucial for my recovery. This procedure is expected to improve my mobility, address the remaining complications from my injuries, and give me the best chance of returning to a normal and independent life.

Most importantly, it will help me pursue the future I had worked so hard to build before the accident and begin my journey of serving the community as a priest.

As per the official cost estimate provided by Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, the expected treatment expenses are:

• Investigations – ₹35,000
• OT Charges – ₹90,000
• OT Consumables & Pharmacy – ₹2,00,000
• Ward Pharmacy – ₹55,000
• Professional Charges – ₹1,70,000
• Nursing & Monitoring Charges – ₹25,000

Total Estimated Cost: ₹6,20,000

At just 20 years old, I am hoping for the opportunity to fully recover, regain my independence, and move forward with my life.
